Australian Style Hamburger

- 750g lean beef mince (like topside) shopping list
- 1 large brown onion, grated shopping list
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed shopping list
- 1 tbspn worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 2 tspn Tabasco sauce (optional) shopping list
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh continental parsley shopping list
- 1 cup dry breadcrumbs shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- salt & ground black pepper, to taste shopping list
- 6 hamburger buns, halved and lightly toasted on inner half shopping list
- 6 slices good quality cheddar cheese shopping list
- 3 medium, ripe tomatoes, sliced shopping list
- 6 slices pickled beetroot shopping list
- 6 slices pineapple shopping list
- 6 iceberg lettuce leaves, shredded shopping list
- tomato sauce for serving shopping list
How to make it
- Place the beef mince, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, parsley, breadcrumbs and egg in large bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix with your hands until evenly combined.
- Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about: 10cm in diameter and 1.5cm thick.
- Place the patties onto a tray lined with- greaseproof paper. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to rest.
- Cook patties on hot BBQ for approx 4 minutes each side.
- To serve, top the bottom halves of the toasted hamburger buns with the patties and then the cheese slices.
- Place bottom bun halves under hot grill until the cheese is just melted.
- Top each with the sliced tomato, beetroot, pineapple and lettuce.
- Add sauce to taste and cover with bun top.
