- rice shopping list
- 2 Tablespoon oil shopping list
- 1 1/4 cup lentils shopping list
- 3 cups boiling water shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- dash pepper shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups rice shopping list
- 1 cup stock shopping list
- SAUCE shopping list
- 3/4 cup tomato paste shopping list
- 3 cups tomato juice, tomato sauce, or pureed tomatoes shopping list
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped shopping list
- chopped celery leaves shopping list
- 1 tablespoon sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 tablespoon cumin shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or crushed chilis to taste shopping list
- TOP shopping list
- (Browned onions top) shopping list
- 2 tablespoon oil shopping list
- 3 onions, sliced shopping list
- 4 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
How to make it
- RICE: Heat in heavy saucepan or covered skillet 2 Tablespoon of oil, add the lentils and brown lentils over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring often, add 3cup boiling water, salt, pepper and cook uncovered 10 minutes over medium heat. Stir in rice, and stock and bring to boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 25 minutes without stirring.
- SAUCE: heat together all ingredients and bring to boil, reducing heat and simmer 20 - 30 minutes.
- BROWNED ONIONS TOP: Heat in small skillet until brown onions, and garlic.
- TO SERVE: Put rice - lentil mixture on a platter, pour tomato sauce over and finally top with brown onions. Enjoy it!
