Snickerdoodles

- 1 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup margarine, softened shopping list
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Beat sugar, margarine and shortening together with an electric mixer at medium speed.
- Add one egg at a time, beating after each egg, until well blended. Should be a pale yellow.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.
- gradually add to sugar mixture, stirring after each addition, until well blended.
- Refrigerate dough for about 15 minutes, so it's easier to handle.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Mix together 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon in shallow dish.
- Form dough into tablespoon balls and roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-11 minutes, until edges are a nice golden brown.
- Cool completely on rack.
- Makes about 2 dozen, depending on size of cookie you prefer.

'found it- I think! I was looking for the recipe that I grew up with. I remembered that it had shortening AND butter, not just one or the other, as so many recipes for snickerdoodles have. I also remembered the cream of tartar...
