I obtained this from an estate sale a few years back. Since potatoes are one of our favorite foods in the whole world I made this and it is now a regular. Yummy.

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 5 medium potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions
  1. Melt butter in medium-size heavy skillet.
  2. Add cream and milk.
  3. Heat but do not boil.
  4. Slip potato slices into hot cream one at a time until evenly distributed.
  5. Season with half the salt and pepper.
  6. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  7. Turn potatoes carefully and season with remaining salt and pepper.
  8. Simmer 30 minutes longer.
