A two part recipe but is "The perfect ending to a not so perfect day."

Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 c. ( about 20 oz can) sour cherries
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • dumpling batter( STEP # 2 in directions))
  • ingredients needed for batter:
  • 1c. sifted cake flour
  • 1/4c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • grated rind of 1 orange
  • 1/3 cup of milk
  • 2 tsp. melted margarine

Directions
  1. Step # 1
  2. Put undrained cherries and sugar in a large, deep skillet, bring to a boil
  3. Drop dumpling batter by tablespoon into boiling fruit to make 4-6 dumplings.
  4. Cover and cook for 20 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately
  6. Step # 2
  7. Dumpling Batter:
  8. Sift dry ingredients into a bowl
  9. Add remaining ingredients
  10. Mix lightly and quickly until blended
  11. DO NOT mix smooth.
