Everyone who tasted this loved this icing! very thick, rich, fudgy, creamy, and easy. i loved it and i dont really like sweets, i used natural cane sugar.

Best recipe for vegan frosting :D
Thank you

I can use this allot.

Mine never boiled, just thickened slightly right before it suddenly turned into a sticky chocolate blob before my eyes. don't know what went wrong, but i wasted my ingredients and my time!

You just bolied it for too long!! i brought it up to a boil on medium heat. it takes patience but you don't have to worry about it burning. once boiling i counted to 50 and took it off the heat til it stopped bubbling. this is actually an awesome recipe. the icing is super fudgey.

Lizlizlizliz:
Mine thickened in an instant as well, but I just quickly stirred and removed it from the heat to keep a smooth consistency. If you know your elements get hotter than others, or heat up more quickly, don't boil this for more than 40 seconds! I also constantly stirred my frosting with a whisk.
This is delicious frosting!

I absolutely loved this recipe. Vegan cake is usually pretty bland, but this definitely made the entire dessert worthwhile

I just tried thie recipe and it is very creamy,
rich and fudgy! Just added an extra 1/2 teaspoon
vanilla and a dash of cinnamon. The cinnamon
brings out the chocolate flavor even more! This
is a keeper!

I'm trying to cut out sugar, so I combined this with another icing recipe I found and came up with the following:
2 mashed bananas
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c water
1/4 tsp Stevia powder
1 tblsp maple syrup
6 tblsp cornstarch
4 tblsp cocoa powder

I heated this until it got warm (30 seconds-you have to be really careful b/c it will burn), then removed it from heat and stirred for 2 min. It turned out pretty lumpy so I put it in the food processor with 1/2 tsp vanilla. It's still a little bitter, like dark chocolate, but the texture is great and it'll do for icing that has no refined sugar and is fat free . I was also thinking that substituting the water for apple or orange juice would make the icing sweeter. Adding dates would work, too. I'm going to experiment more next time, I just wanted to see if anyone else had suggestions.
Thanks
