A sweet crumbly apple dessert that completes any meal.

Ingredients
  • 12-15 cooking apples (better if green and sour)
  • 250g sugar
  • 300g ginger cookies
  • 150g butter
  • 1 whole ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions
  1. Crush cookies in a mixing bowl
  2. Melt butter on the hob (make sure not to burn it) and add to the crushed ginger cookies
  3. Press mixture into the bottom and sides of a 30cm (9in) pie dish and refrigerate
  4. Peel and core the apples, cut into eighths
  5. Add a gob of butter to a pan on full heat add the sugar and the apples
  6. Mix in the cinnamon and shaved nutmeg
  7. Add 3 tablespoons of water
  8. Allow the mixture to stew for about 10 minutes
  9. Pour the mixture into the ginger-lined pie dish and leave to cool
  10. Serve with a spoonful of yogurt or some vanilla ice cream or some creme fraiche or just by itself... enjoy
