Awabi Sakami Recipe
This is very unusual but very tasty. I obtained it from a Japanese Cookbook when I started experimenting with ethnical cooking. I love tuna so this one caught my eye and it is very good.

Ingredients
  • 15 ounces canned or fresh abalone
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Sake
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 4 ounces water
  • 1 ounce sugar

Directions
  1. Put the abalone into a small saucepan and add water.
  2. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  3. Add Sake and sugar and cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in soy sauce and continue to cook for 2 to 3 more minutes.
  5. Cool to room temperature.
  6. Cut the abalone into 1/2 inch thick slices and serve.
