Another Pa Dutch recipe for plain mint candy

Ingredients
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 12 drops oil of peppermint or wintergreen

Directions
  1. Boil sugar & water together until a small am't dropped in cold water forms a soft ball ( 234 degrees on candy thermometer)
  2. Add flavoring, remove from heat, and beat until mixture begins to thicken
  3. Then drop from spoon, forming thin patties on waxed paper, keeping candy over hot water while forming patties.
