How to make it

  • Heat oven to 375°.
  • In a bowl, beat butter and shortening until well blended.
  • Add brown sugar and granulated sugar and beat well.
  • Add eggs, vanilla, baking soda and salt.
  • Beat thoroughly.
  • Gradually beat in flour. If dough becomes too stiff to use the mixer, stir in remaining flour with a spoon.
  • Stir in candies and nuts.
  • Press the dough into an ungreased 15-1/2x10-1/2x1-inch jelly-roll pan.
  • Bake 15-20 minutes or until top is golden.
  • Set on a wire rack and cool completely in the pan.
  • Cut into bars.
  • Depending on the size you cut, you'll get 2-3 dozen bars from this which is why it is ideal for bake sales!!!
