How to make it

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • In a 9x9x2-inch baking pan, mix flour, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  • Mix in milk, oil and vanilla with a fork until smooth.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Spread in pan.
  • Sprinkle with brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder.
  • Pour really hot water over batter.
  • Bake for 40 minutes.
  • While warm, spoon into dessert dishes and top with ice cream.
  • Spoon sauce from pan onto each serving.
  • Butterscotch Sundae Cake:
  • Substitute 1 cup butterscotch chips for the nuts and decrease the brown sugar to 1/2 cup and the 1/4 cup to 2 tablespoons.
  • Mallow Sundae Cake:
  • Substitute 1 cup miniature marshmallows for the nuts.
  • Peanutty Sundae Cake:
  • Substitue 1/2 cup peanut butter and 1/2 cup chopped peanuts for nuts.
  • Raisin Sundae Cake:
  • Substitute 1 cup raisins for the nuts.

    Lots of possibility with this one - I dont' know which one to start with! Sounds delish...you just keep coming up with all the things I like, Jaie...maybe we were related in a past life?!?!?!
