Ingredients

How to make it

  • Prepare cake mix as directed and add lemon or orange peel.
  • Divide batter evenly in 3 bowls
  • Fold 1 food color in each bowl.
  • Pour green batter into ungreased tube pan (10 x 4 in.)
  • Spoon yellow batter onto green and last, add to top the red batter.
  • Bake and cool as directed.
  • Glaze:
  • Mix powdered sugar and butter.
  • Stir in 1 Tbsp. lemon or orange juice.
  • Stir in additional juice, 1 tsp. at a time until desired consistency.
  • Drizzle glaze over cooled cake.

    Great recipe- I make it a lot too-I do not use the lemon/orange peel -will try it sometime-I like to make this around the holidays too- using red, green & white on Christmas, red, white & blue on the 4th of July, candy corn colors on Halloween, etc. Pretty & fun! Thanks for posting!

    tazoncaffeine ate it and said...
    I made something like this in kindergarten with a white cake. We used more colors and poured them in one at a time then ran a knife briefly through the additions. Made a cool swirly colourful cake. Kept the class enthralled as well as my nieces and nephews. Great recipe.
