Big ol Giant Tortilla Tacos

- 3 pounds lean ground beef shopping list
- 2 large onions, chopped shopping list
- 4 teaspoons chili powder shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons oregano leaves shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons paprika shopping list
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin shopping list
- 3/4 teaspoon ground pepper shopping list
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1-15 ounce can tomato sauce shopping list
- Garlic salt, to taste shopping list
- Tortillas: shopping list
- salad oil shopping list
- 8- 10 to 12 inch flour tortillas shopping list
- 8 cups shredded iceberg lettuce shopping list
- 4 cups shredded mexican seasoned shredded cheese (OR your favorite cheese) shopping list
- 2 avocados shopping list
- 3 tomatoes, diced shopping list
- pitted black olives, sliced: how much depends on how much you like olives! shopping list
- 1 container sour cream shopping list
How to make it
- Pour salad oil into a wide frying pan to about 1/2-inch thick.
- Heat oil to 375°. (Check temperature with a deep-frying thermometer.)
- Add tortillas, only one at a time, and cook, turning quickly and carefully with 2 wide spatulas, until they are bubbly and just golden but still soft and flexible. ABOUT 30 SECONDS!!!
- Using spatulas, lift out each tortilla and immediately bend in the center so one half is perpendicular to the other.
- Let drain on paper towels, propped against a can or other sturdy object so it hold its shape as it cools.
- Repeat until all are fried.
- Make Beef Filling:
- Crumble the ground beef into a wide frying pan over medium heat and cook. Stirring to break up until the meat is browned.
- Spoon off and discard fat.
- Add the onions and cook stirring often, until soft.
- Stir in the chili powder, oregano leaves, paprika, cumin, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and tomato sauce.
- Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, stirring often until heated through.
- Season with garlic salt to taste.
- To Assemble tacos:
- Place 2 fried tortillas on a plate per person.
- Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded lettuce.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup mexican seasoned shredded cheese onto each.
- Spool about 1 cup of the meat filling onto each.
- Peel, pit and slice avocados.
- Garnish each taco with some avocado, tomato, olives and sour cream.
- ENJOY!!!
