Ingredients
  • Beef Filling:
  • 3 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 4 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons oregano leaves
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1-15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • Garlic salt, to taste
  • Tortillas:
  • Salad oil
  • 8- 10 to 12 inch flour tortillas
  • 8 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 4 cups shredded mexican seasoned shredded cheese (OR your favorite cheese)
  • 2 avocados
  • 3 tomatoes, diced
  • Pitted black olives, sliced: how much depends on how much you like olives!
  • 1 container sour cream

Directions
  1. Pour salad oil into a wide frying pan to about 1/2-inch thick.
  2. Heat oil to 375°. (Check temperature with a deep-frying thermometer.)
  3. Add tortillas, only one at a time, and cook, turning quickly and carefully with 2 wide spatulas, until they are bubbly and just golden but still soft and flexible. ABOUT 30 SECONDS!!!
  4. Using spatulas, lift out each tortilla and immediately bend in the center so one half is perpendicular to the other.
  5. Let drain on paper towels, propped against a can or other sturdy object so it hold its shape as it cools.
  6. Repeat until all are fried.
  7. Make Beef Filling:
  8. Crumble the ground beef into a wide frying pan over medium heat and cook. Stirring to break up until the meat is browned.
  9. Spoon off and discard fat.
  10. Add the onions and cook stirring often, until soft.
  11. Stir in the chili powder, oregano leaves, paprika, cumin, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and tomato sauce.
  12. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, stirring often until heated through.
  13. Season with garlic salt to taste.
  14. To Assemble tacos:
  15. Place 2 fried tortillas on a plate per person.
  16. Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded lettuce.
  17. Sprinkle 1/2 cup mexican seasoned shredded cheese onto each.
  18. Spool about 1 cup of the meat filling onto each.
  19. Peel, pit and slice avocados.
  20. Garnish each taco with some avocado, tomato, olives and sour cream.
  21. ENJOY!!!
