How to make it

  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening and cheese until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • Add milk, stirring until moistened.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 3 to 4 times.
  • Roll dough to 3/4 inch thick, cut into rounds with a 2 inch cutter.
  • Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet, bake at 450 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Serve with garlic butter. Makes about 1-1/2 dozen
