How to make it

  • Quarter 1 lime lengthwise, then cut each quarter in half crosswise and divide pieces between 2 (6-ounce) glasses.
  • Add 1 tablespoon sugar to each glass, then muddle lime pieces by pounding and pressing with a wooden spoon until sugar is dissolved.
  • Fill each glass with ice and add 3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) cachaça to each, stirring well.

I really believe the amount of sugar you put into your drink is determined by the quality of the cachaca that you use. For example, using Pitu as your cachaca would require more sugar then some of the newer ultra-premium cachacas on the market like a brand called LEBLON Cachaca. Since the taste of this ultra-premum cachaca is more refined it is less harsh and smoother then the industrialized cachcacas which means you can use less sugar to mask the taste

I love these! I add a bit more sugar to mine (actually I think I do - I don't really measure it) and I'm pretty sure I add more cachaca (again, no measuring).
