Ingredients
- 4 cups cooked elbow macaroni; cooled
- 1 ½ lbs. hamburger meat, preferably ground sirloin or very lean beef
- ½ cup onions
- 1 T olive oil
- 1 ½ cans tomato paste
- 2 Tbs. Worcester sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 Tbs. oregano
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 ½ cups sharp grated cheddar cheese
- ½ cup bread crumbs
Directions
- Heat oil in frying pan, add onions. Cook until clear, add hamburger meat and cook; add worcester sauce. Add tomato paste, water and seasonings. Simmer for 15 minutes. In 2 ½ quart dish, layer pasta, meat, and cheese; add second layer. Mix ½ cup cheese and bread crumbs; put on top of casserole. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
