Ingredients

How to make it

  • Prep:
  • Core and chop apples. You want the apples to be bite size, but not too small.
  • Cook:
  • In a 4 qt. saucepan or an iron skillet (I find that the dish tastes better if cooked in an iron skillet), melt butter and sauté apples, don’t let them get too mushy. Add yams, breaking into bite size pieces. Add brown sugar and let the mixture cook until the yams have softened and mashed together, don’t mash them yourself, they will do this on their own. Stir mixture often. Cook for about 20 - 25 minutes on medium heat.

This was great.. Hubby loved them. Thank you. And your so right about the iron skillet.. I make creamed string bean, and it is better in cast iron!
