How to make it

  • Syrup:
  • Bring all the syrups' ingredients to the boil.
  • Dough:
  • Sift all the dry ingredients together.
  • Work the butter into the dry ingredients with your fingers.
  • Whisk the egg and water together.
  • Mix together.
  • Place spoonfuls of the dough into the boiling syrup.
  • Use a dessert spoon for this.
  • Lower the heat.
  • Put a tight fitting lid on.
  • Simmer for 8 minutes.
  • Do not lift the lid.
  • Take off and serve hot.
