How to make it

  • Peel, seed, and cut squash into small slices. Place squash and apple slices in a baking dish,(or crockpot) about 11- x 7-inches Combine brown sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg; cut in butter with fork or pastry cutter until crumbly. Sprinkle crumbs evenly over sliced squash and apples.

    Sweet butternut! We used to eat it sweetened in South Africa (butter and sugar added while hot), in Italy i might get funny looks and eews, but I'll try it when the Italians are not around ;)
