How to make it

  • Put bacon, onions, celery and butter in pot and cook until veggies are soft and bacon just starting to get crispy.
  • Add turnips, clams and lobster base. Simmer for 1 hr until turnips are soft.
  • Add cream and milk. Simmer for 30 hr. Whisk in thickener. Let sit 10 minutes off heat to thicken, stirring occasionally. Enjoy!

    I made something like this yesterday, but I didn't have a thickener on hand. Where did you buy the guar gum? I've never seen it for sale in a regular grocery.

    This sounds wonderful, and something I can enjoy. Especially since I can only croak and not talk, to the delight of my husband. A low-carb chowder sounds like ambrosia right about now.
