I never cared for Decorated Holiday cookies until I made these and my family is still requesting them after all these years. The flavor is wonderful and not too sweet, even decorated. Time given is prior to rolling out and cutting

Ingredients
  • Sift together and reserve:
  • 2 ¾ C flour
  • 1 t baking powder
  • ½ t salt
  • Beat until fluffy:
  • ¾ C shortening
  • 1 C sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ t vanilla & ½ t almond flavoring
  • Beat in:
  • Flour mixture
  • Chill:
  • 1 hour or until firm

Directions
  1. Roll: To 1/8 inch thickness, keeping unused dough chilled
  2. until ready to roll.
  3. Cut into desired shapes
  4. Bake on greased cookie sheet (Pam) at 375 for 8 – 10 mins or until pale color appears
  5. Decorate with colored frostings
  6. Makes about 4 dozen 3 inch cookies
