Texas Pound Cake Recipe
This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Goebel Estate in Royse City, Texas in 1988.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk with 1 teaspoon baking soda stirred in
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • Grated rind of one lemon

Directions
  1. Spray bundt pan well with non-cooking spray and preheat oven to 325.
  2. Cream sugar and shortening then add eggs and beat until smooth.
  3. Add buttermilk, soda and vanilla alternating with flour then beat until smooth.
  4. Stir in grated lemon rind and pour in pan and bake for 45 minutes.
