How to make it

  • Toast sesame seeds in a heavy skillet over medium heat until brown, stirring often. Remove from heat and cool.
  • Beat butter at medium speed until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating well.
  • Stir in sesame seeds, egg and vanilla.
  • Combine flour and remaining 3 ingredients; stir into butter mixture.
  • Cover and chill at least 1 hour. Shape dough into 1/2 inch balls and place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Flatten to 1/16 inch thickness with flat-bottomed glass.
  • Bake at 325 deg. for 10 min. or until lightly browned. Remove to racks to cool.
  • Yield: 10 dozen
