- 1-1/2 cups (6oz) pasticchio macaroni (mezzani) shopping list
- 1 beaten egg shopping list
- 1/4 cup milk shopping list
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese shopping list
- 1 pound ground beef shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped onion shopping list
- 1 6oz can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon shopping list
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg shopping list
- 3/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/8 tsp pepper shopping list
- 3 tbsp butter shopping list
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups milk shopping list
- 1 beaten egg shopping list
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Cook macaroni according to package directions;drain. Stir in the 1 beaten egg, the 1/4 cup milk and the 1/3 cup parmesan cheese. Set aside
- In skillet, cook ground beef and onion till meat is lightly browned and onion is tender. Drain off excess fat. Sir in tomato sauce, cinnamon, nutmeg,the 3/4 tsp salt, and the pepper; set aside.
- In saucepan, melt butter. Blend in flour and the remaining 1/4 tsp salt. Stir in remaining milk. Cook and stir til mixture thickens and bubbles. Cook and stir 1 minute more. Blend moderate amount of hot mixture into remaining beaten egg; return to saucepan. stir in remaining cheese.
- Layer half the macaroni mixture in an 8x8x2 inch baking pan. Spoon meat mixture on top, then remaining macaroni.Spread cream sauce over macaroni.
- Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
