This is delicious pasta dish with a mild flavor that goes well with Greek Salad

Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 cups (6oz) pasticchio macaroni (mezzani)
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 6oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Directions
  1. Cook macaroni according to package directions;drain. Stir in the 1 beaten egg, the 1/4 cup milk and the 1/3 cup parmesan cheese. Set aside
  2. In skillet, cook ground beef and onion till meat is lightly browned and onion is tender. Drain off excess fat. Sir in tomato sauce, cinnamon, nutmeg,the 3/4 tsp salt, and the pepper; set aside.
  3. In saucepan, melt butter. Blend in flour and the remaining 1/4 tsp salt. Stir in remaining milk. Cook and stir til mixture thickens and bubbles. Cook and stir 1 minute more. Blend moderate amount of hot mixture into remaining beaten egg; return to saucepan. stir in remaining cheese.
  4. Layer half the macaroni mixture in an 8x8x2 inch baking pan. Spoon meat mixture on top, then remaining macaroni.Spread cream sauce over macaroni.
  5. Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
