How to make it

  • Cook macaroni according to package directions;drain. Stir in the 1 beaten egg, the 1/4 cup milk and the 1/3 cup parmesan cheese. Set aside
  • In skillet, cook ground beef and onion till meat is lightly browned and onion is tender. Drain off excess fat. Sir in tomato sauce, cinnamon, nutmeg,the 3/4 tsp salt, and the pepper; set aside.
  • In saucepan, melt butter. Blend in flour and the remaining 1/4 tsp salt. Stir in remaining milk. Cook and stir til mixture thickens and bubbles. Cook and stir 1 minute more. Blend moderate amount of hot mixture into remaining beaten egg; return to saucepan. stir in remaining cheese.
  • Layer half the macaroni mixture in an 8x8x2 inch baking pan. Spoon meat mixture on top, then remaining macaroni.Spread cream sauce over macaroni.
  • Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
