How to make it

  • Brown deer with onion, green pepper, and carlic in a pan
  • Add browned meat and all other ingredients except the sugar into a large pot and simmer on low heat for 2 1/2 hours stirring frequently
  • Then add sugar and continue to simmer for about 30 min.
  • Add additional water as needed depending on how thick or thin you like your chili
  • Serve in a bowl topped with grated cheddar cheese and chopped onions and enjoy.
  • The chili is a mild spice heat but it can easily be spiced up!!!!

    I just joined this group! I use basically the same recipe except for the sugar. How does this affect the taste?

    For the first post by Reginnia. If a deer is properly cared for at the time of harvest and afterword, there is no game taste to it at all.

    Thanks for sending this recipe to me. I can't wait to try it out. Usually, I only eat deer in the form of steak with sage as the primary season. Is the deer in this recipe mixed with beef? I have heard of alot of people doing this to cut the game taste from the deer.
