Deer Chili Recipe
This is a good recipe for deer chili. It is always requested during hunting season.

Ingredients
  • Approx 1 1/2 lbs. chopped or ground deer
  • 3-4 large onions chopped
  • 1 green pepper chopped
  • 1 sliced cayenne pepper (dried or fresh)
  • 1 8oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 sauce can of water
  • 1 envelope chili seasoning
  • 1 1/2 tbs. chili powder
  • 2 cloves finely chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 3/4 tsp. oregano
  • 2 16 oz cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 16 oz can red kidney beans
  • 1/4 cup of sugar

Directions
  1. Brown deer with onion, green pepper, and carlic in a pan
  2. Add browned meat and all other ingredients except the sugar into a large pot and simmer on low heat for 2 1/2 hours stirring frequently
  3. Then add sugar and continue to simmer for about 30 min.
  4. Add additional water as needed depending on how thick or thin you like your chili
  5. Serve in a bowl topped with grated cheddar cheese and chopped onions and enjoy.
  6. The chili is a mild spice heat but it can easily be spiced up!!!!

Thanks for sending this recipe to me. I can't wait to try it out. Usually, I only eat deer in the form of steak with sage as the primary season. Is the deer in this recipe mixed with beef? I have heard of alot of people doing this to cut the game taste from the deer.
