Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix butter into dry cake mix, till crumbly.
  • Mix in coconut.
  • Pat mixture lightly into bottom of an 13x9x2 ungreased pan,
  • building edges up slightly.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and arrange pie filling on warm crust spreading over entire crust.
  • Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over top of pie filling.
  • Blend the sour cream and egg, then drizzle over top. Amount will not cover completely so just cover as best as you can.
  • Put in oven and bake for 25 minutes or until edges are light brown.
  • Do not over bake.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool about 5 minutes, then cut into squares. This dessert cuts better when slightly warm.
  • Serve warm or cold.
  • Makes 12 to 15 servings depending on size of pieces.

    My mom's sister (one of eleventy six) won a national contest with her kuchen in the late 1950's. I've always lamented not having her recipe, so thanks for posting this.
