How to make it

  • Dump Spice Cake Mix into medium bowl
  • (bowl will be refrigerated)
  • Add slightly beaten egg, water and flour
  • Mix well with large spoon or use hands
  • Add more water if necesary to mix
  • Mixture will be very thick
  • Cover and refrigerate for several hours
  • Preheat oven to 350 when ready to bake
  • Roll out dough to about 1/8 inch thick
  • Cut out shapes and place on greased cookie sheet
  • 4# cutter bake 8 - 10 minutes
  • Place cookies on wire rack to cool
  • If desired frost cookies with thinned Royal Icing

    we tried them on 12/24/09 with the kids and the dough was incredibly sticky, sticky enough that we needed to use so much flour to keep it off the rolling pin and off the counter that icing did not stick to the cookies after we baked them.
