On the first cool day of autumn,my kitchen is filled with the aroma of gingerbread cookies baking. My kids love to decorate these FUN Cut Out cookies.

Ingredients
  • Spice Cake Mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 tbls flour

Directions
  1. Dump Spice Cake Mix into medium bowl
  2. (bowl will be refrigerated)
  3. Add slightly beaten egg, water and flour
  4. Mix well with large spoon or use hands
  5. Add more water if necesary to mix
  6. Mixture will be very thick
  7. Cover and refrigerate for several hours
  8. Preheat oven to 350 when ready to bake
  9. Roll out dough to about 1/8 inch thick
  10. Cut out shapes and place on greased cookie sheet
  11. 4# cutter bake 8 - 10 minutes
  12. Place cookies on wire rack to cool
  13. If desired frost cookies with thinned Royal Icing
