Ingredients
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 very cold vegetable shortening - in tablespoons
  • 1/2 cup ice water

Directions
  1. Get Ready - the key it to keep shortening and hand cold
  2. Put the shortening in the freezer for about 20 minutes
  3. I fill a medium bowl with ice and and water for putting my hands in.
  4. Make Crust
  5. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt
  6. Cut in shorten in tablespoon sized lumps until the mixture looks like a course meal
  7. Sprinkle on the ice water and mix with a fork
  8. (I run a bit warm so I soak my hands in the bowl of ice water until is hurts bit)
  9. Knead the dough until it just comes together
  10. Seperate the dough into two halves
  11. Wrap in plastic and keep in refridgerator for 30 minutes - will keep for about 3 days.

Did you mean 1/2 cup of ice water? My mom's recipe is just like this one, except she uses slightly less water and adds 1/2 tsp sugar. It makes an excellent crust, I'll be a witness.
