Boiled Cabbage Slaw

- 1 large head of cabbage shopping list
- 1 green pepper shopping list
- 1 large onion shopping list
- 1 cup of sugar - divided shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 tablespoon celery seed shopping list
- 3/4 cup salad oil shopping list
- 1 cup vingar shopping list
How to make it
- Grate the head of the cabbage.
- Put half of the cabbage into a large bowl
- Grate the green pepper and onion
- Put a layer of green pepper and onion on top of cabbage.
- Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar
- Repeat layers of grated cabbage, green pepper and onion
- Sprinkle with remaining sugar
- In a small sauce pan bring to a boil
- the salt and celery seed, salad oil and vinegar.
- Pour the boiling mixture over the cabbage salad.
- DO NOT STIR
- Refrigerate for 24 hours
- Stir when ready to serve
- Tastes better made 2 to 3 days ahead of time.
