Peppermint Cresents

- 1 cup softened butter shopping list
- 2/3 cup sifted powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp peppermint extract shopping list
- 1/8 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour shopping list
- 2 cups sifted powdered sugar, divided shopping list
- 2 1/2 tbs milk shopping list
- 1/4 tsp peppermint extract shopping list
- Coarsely crushed hard peppermint candy or candy canes shopping list
How to make it
- Beat butter at medium speed with electric mixer until creamy
- Add 2/3 c powdered sugar
- Add 1 tsp peppermint extract
- Add salt
- Beat well
- Gradually add flour to butter mixtrure, beating at low speed just until blended after each addition
- Divide dough into thirds
- Cover and chill for 30 min
- Working with 1 portion of dough at at time
- Divide each portion into 12 pieces
- Roll each piece into a 2in log and curve ends of each log to form a cresent shape
- Place cresents 2in apart on parchment lined baking sheets
- Bake at 325 for 18 min or until lightly browned
- Cool 1 min on baking sheets
- Carefully roll warm cookies in powdered sugar and then cool completely
- Combine remaining 1c powdered sugar, milk, and 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
- Stir until smooth
- Drizzle icing over cookies
- Sprinkle cookies with crushed peppermint, pressing gently
- Let icing set before serving
- Store in an airtight container
