How to make it

  • Beat butter at medium speed with electric mixer until creamy
  • Add 2/3 c powdered sugar
  • Add 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • Add salt
  • Beat well
  • Gradually add flour to butter mixtrure, beating at low speed just until blended after each addition
  • Divide dough into thirds
  • Cover and chill for 30 min
  • Working with 1 portion of dough at at time
  • Divide each portion into 12 pieces
  • Roll each piece into a 2in log and curve ends of each log to form a cresent shape
  • Place cresents 2in apart on parchment lined baking sheets
  • Bake at 325 for 18 min or until lightly browned
  • Cool 1 min on baking sheets
  • Carefully roll warm cookies in powdered sugar and then cool completely
  • Combine remaining 1c powdered sugar, milk, and 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
  • Stir until smooth
  • Drizzle icing over cookies
  • Sprinkle cookies with crushed peppermint, pressing gently
  • Let icing set before serving
  • Store in an airtight container
