Gouda Gratin

- 4 large baking potatoes unpeeled and thinly sliced shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper shopping list
- 2 garlic cloves minced shopping list
- 1 white onion thinly sliced shopping list
- 2 medium tart green apples unpeeled, cored and thinly sliced shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons dried thyme leaves shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg shopping list
- 2 cups half and half shopping list
- 2 cups shredded gouda cheese shopping list
- 1/2 cup dry jack cheese finely grated shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 425.
- In a rectangular baking dish arrange 1/2 the potatoes then season with salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle on garlic.
- Top with onion and apple then season with thyme and nutmeg.
- Arrange remaining potatoes on top and pour on half and half.
- Cover with foil and bake for 50 minutes.
- Remove foil and top with Gouda and sprinkle with dry jack cheese.
- Return to oven and bake uncovered 20 additional minutes.
