Ingredients
  • 2 onions
  • 1 green pepper
  • 12 mushrooms
  • 12 peppadews (mild) - if you don't get these, a few chillies to taste
  • 200 grams ham (7oz; 0.45 pound)
  • 50 ml (2 heaped tablespoons + 4 teaspoons) chopped fresh parsley, or 30 ml dry (2 heaped tablespoons)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 60 ml (1/2 cup) savoury cream cheese
  • 6 eggs
  • 60 ml (1/2 cup) all purpose flour
  • 750 ml (3 cups) cheese, grated

Directions
  1. Chop onions, greenpepper, mushrooms, peppadews and ham.
  2. Saute in a little bit of oil until onions are soft and ham is cooked if you used raw ham.
  3. Stir in the parsley, salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in the cream cheese.
  6. Stir in the eggs and flour until well mixed.
  7. Stir in the grated cheese.
  8. Place in a pie dish, round or square or into muffin pans.
  9. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes at 150 degrees C (320 deg F) until stiff in the middle.
  10. Serve with rice or a salad.

Sounds really good, I'll check our ethnic markets here for pappadews ... where are they from?


I see on the bottle it is a South African product. It looks like a miniature greenpepper, with a bit of zest. If you don't get it, just leave it out.
