Boiled Custard Recipe
Okay, here in the south, we love our boiled custard for Christmas. It's pretty easy to make too. The main and most important ingredient is bourbon....

Ingredients
  • 5 large eggs (beat)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tea. salt
  • 1 tea. double strength vanilla extract
  • 1 tea. almond extract
  • 1 quart milk (cold)
  • 1 tea - to infinity Bourbon or Brandy

Directions
  1. Beat eggs with electric beater for 1 minute.
  2. In top of double boiler, combine eggs with all other ingredients
  3. Cook over simmering water, stirring constantly until mixture coats spoon.
  4. Cool to room temp
  5. Beat again with beater at medium for approx 3 minutes
  6. Put in container and refrigerate for 3 hours
  7. Once chilled, add desired amount to custard to booze, or maybe that should be the other way around for the faint hearted. Anyway, after a couple mugs, you won't care, and you'll be allot more fun to be around.

My husbands grandmother used to make this but she never put any booze in, she would have killed us all first LOL.
