We love cabbage and we love cabbage rolls. What makes this recipe different is the sour cream sauce. Very creamy, packed full of flavors. I think you will enjoy it and learn to love it as much as we do.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups cooked ground beef
  • 1/4 cup diced white onion
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1 egg well beaten
  • 6 large cabbage leaves
  • 1/4 cup tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sour cream

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350.
  2. Brown meat and onion in heavy skillet over low heat then remove from heat and mix in celery, rice, horseradish, mustard and egg.
  3. Cook cabbage leaves for 3 minutes in boiling salted water.
  4. Place meat mixture on cabbage leaves.
  5. Roll and fasten with toothpicks.
  6. Place close together in greased baking dish.
  7. Pour tomato puree and water over cabbage rolls.
  8. Cover and bake 30 minutes.
  9. Remove cabbage rolls.
  10. Pour sour cream into liquid remaining in baking dish.
  11. Serve over cabbage rolls.

I make cabbage rolls or stuffed cabbage as I know it but have never made a version like this. As my ancestry is part Polish I have made stuffed cabbage for a long time. I make a version that calls for tomato sauce. Curious to see how your version tastes compared to the one that I am used to.
