Canja Soup

- 1 whole chicken shopping list
- chicken fat shopping list
- salt & pepper shopping list
- 1 onion, sliced shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, minced shopping list
- 1/2 c uncooked rice shopping list
- 1/4 pound diced ham, diced shopping list
- 1 bay leaf shopping list
- parsley shopping list
- 1 sprig marjoram shopping list
How to make it
- Salt and pepper he chicken and let it stand for 30 minutes.
- After marinating in the dry rub, cut into pieces for frying.
- In the soup pot, cook the onion and garlic in the fat.
- Add the chicken and cover the pot; fry the chickenuntil it is brown on one side.
- Turn the chicken, cover again, brown the other side.
- Wash and drain the rice. Add the rice to the chicken with the ham, and fry a bit longer, shaking to prevent sticking.
- Add 2 quarts boiling water and the herbs to the pot.
- Simmer until the chicken is tender (2 or 3 hours), and remove the chicken and herbs.
- Remove skin and boes from the chicken, cut meat into pieces, and return to the pot. Serve.
