How to make it

  • Whisk sugar, flour, cocoa, cornstarch and salt in large mixing bowl.
  • Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
  • Store in covered container up to 6 weeks at room temperature. Freeze for longer storage.
  • To make Brownies:
  • HEAT oven to 350ºF. Spray an 8x8-inch baking pan with no-stick spray.
  • In large mixing bowl, beat egg and vanilla.
  • Stir in 3 cups Brownie Mix until nearly smooth.
  • Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.
  • Spread in prepared pan.
  • Bake 25-30 minutes.
