Petticoat Tail Cookies Recipe
These are my favorite christmas cookies that my mother used to make. Absolutely love them.

Ingredients
  • 1 c butter
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 3/4 c flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tsp rosewater
  • red food coloring
  • green food coloring
  • icing:
  • 2 cups sifted confectionary sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 -3 Tablespoon evap milk

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and mix.
  3. Stir together flour and salt.
  4. Mix into creamed mixture.
  5. Mix in rosewater.
  6. Divide in half and into each half mix in red food coloring in one and green in the other.
  7. Roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a floured cutting board.
  8. Cut out cookies.
  9. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 6 -8 minutes.
  11. Decorate.
