Petticoat Tail Cookies Recipe

These are my favorite christmas cookies that my mother used to make. Absolutely love them.

Ingredients
- 1 c butter
- 1 c sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 3/4 c flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 tsp rosewater
- red food coloring
- green food coloring
- icing:
- 2 cups sifted confectionary sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 -3 Tablespoon evap milk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and mix.
- Stir together flour and salt.
- Mix into creamed mixture.
- Mix in rosewater.
- Divide in half and into each half mix in red food coloring in one and green in the other.
- Roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a floured cutting board.
- Cut out cookies.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 6 -8 minutes.
- Decorate.

Instead of coloring the dough, I have also colored the frosting and done it that way.
