How to make it

  • Prepare cake mix as directed on package.
  • Bake in 9 by 13 inch cake pan as per baking directions on package. With a meat fork or the handle end of a wooden spoon, poke holes along the top of the cooled cake.
  • Mix the gelatin separately with only 1 cup of boiling water for each package.
  • Spoon the Jello along the holes in random order to create a rainbow
  • effect.
  • Refrigerate cake for several hours and ice with the cool-whip.

    One of my old standbys for celebrations, thanx for posting! Note another pretty way to do it is to bake it in two small pans and poke each with a different flavour of jello, then layer them with whipped cream ... delish!! :-)
