I know this is a very easy and probably well known recipe but it's in honor of my oldest son's 18th birthday tomorrow. It's his all time favorite dessert so I feel I must post it as I'm having a hard time believing he is 18!

Ingredients
  • 1 can (1lb 5 oz) Cherry pie filling
  • 1 pkg Jiffy Brand yellow cake mix
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions
  1. Spread pie filling in 8X8 square pan
  2. Combine cake mix and nuts in bowl
  3. Add butter and mix until crumbly
  4. Sprinkle over pie filling
  5. Bake 45 - 50 minutes until golden brown

My mother-in-law's recipe in the Corona del Mar High School cookbook 30+ years ago is packed in boxes during a water-damage restoration. It's my son's 29th birthday. For dessert I NEED the proportions of fat to cake mix from the recipe, and this is exactly what I was looking for.
