How to make it

  • on the stove combine:
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • boil. remove from heat and add:
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • Pour over popcorn (3 bags microwave popcorn--kettle corn works well). Bake @ 200 for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

    Made this today. Followed the recipe exactly, except I used regular popcorn, not microwave. It tasted good, but I'll try a different recipe next time. I don't think the cooking instructions are clear, step #5 in particular. I took it to mean that as soon as it came to a boil it should be removed from the heat. So that's what I did, even tho it didn't make sense to me at the time; but the first time I try a new recipe, I always try to follow it exactly. The sugar didn't have time to dissolve, so the grainy feel of the sugar was still there when the caramel corn was ready to eat.

    This is fabulous!!! Tried it once a few weeks ago - making it again! LOL It's going to some of my mom's friends at work (minus a little for my family).
