Ingredients

How to make it

  • Dissolve agar-agar in cold water, lemon zest and wine.
  • Bring to a low boil, and dissolve sugar.
  • Remove from heat and pour into a shallow dish to about ½ - ¾” depth.
  • Chill until set.
  • When gel is fully firm, cut 32 cubes roughly the size of the cheese cubes.
  • Plate cheese and gel cubes in the design of a checkerboard and serve with fresh fruit.
  • Alternately, plate checkerboards on crackers or thin slices of pound cake!

    I've made Jello using Brandy with the water...and it turned out very interesting...But wine is nice too...I guess you could use any kind of spirits...Makes for an intersting party!!

    OMG...I never even considered the possibility of vegetarian "jello". This is so awesome to know about. Oh and anything made with wine is swell in my book. Thanks!
