Butternut Cake

- 1 C vegetable shortening shopping list
- 2 C Granulated sugar shopping list
- 2 C all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 C self rising flour shopping list
- 1 C milk shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 2 T vanilla shopping list
- 2 T butternut flavoring shopping list
- Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs one at a time and beat until creamy. Add flour alternating with milk. Add flavors. Beat on low speed until all ingredients are blended and mixture is smooth. Bake in three 9-inch round pans at 350º for approximately 25-30 minutes. Do not over bake. shopping list
How to make it
- Icing:
- 4 C Powdered Sugar
- 1 stick margarine
- 1 8-oz pkg cream cheese
- 1 C finely chopped nuts
- 1 ½ C flake coconut
- 1 T vanilla
- 1 T butternut flavoring
- Melt margarine and cream cheese over low heat. Pour into mixing bowl. Add sugar and beat until smooth. Fold in nuts, coconut and flavorings until thoroughly mixed. Spread on cool cake layers. If icing is too stiff, add a little milk.
