This BBQ best served with hushpuppies ,French fries, cole slaw or for sandwiches.This can be cooked in oven but much better in hickory coal cooker. Use temp. of 210 degrees. Time according to size of meat and follow same directions.

Ingredients
  • Dip or sauce
  • 1/2 cup tomato ketchup
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • all spices 1/2 tsp.
  • black pepper
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • rubbed sage
  • crushed red pepper
  • old bay seasoning
  • tabasco( liquid)
  • add all spices to vinegar whisk till dissolved.
  • whisk in ketchup & sugar bring to simmer
  • add warm water till sauce is thin
  • 8lb. boston butt
  • line roasting pan with foil place butt in center salt and pepper cover lose cook for 4 hrs. 225 degrees uncover spoon on dip. cover lose cook for 4 more hrs . uncover spoon on dip do not cover. cook till 160 degrees in center of butt.
  • remove and let rest. chop from fine to coarse adding dip as you chop. or slice. serve warm dip with meal.

OMG my mouth is watering just reading the recipe. hubby is in for a treat next week :)


I added this recipe to outdoor cooking because I thought it might be great in a dutch oven.
