this came out of a men like meat cookbook, from the American Can Company, from the 40's. I just had to share a few of them.

I have to tell you I don't know where to find canned tongue or brains-but been pleased to find fresh tongue at Wallyworld lately. Great recipe.

We love tongue in this house but I am with jenniferbyrdez I have not a clue where to find canned tongue. Guess we will just have to reserve a bit of tongue when we next fix it to try this recipe provided that is IF there is any tongue left as this household goes wild whenever I fix tongue LOL

I have never had tongue. What is its texture and flavor similar to? We can talk about the brains later? lol

Tongue has the flavor of a dried beef. when it is sliced thin, I don't mind it. However, when it is whole I have trouble with it

This does sound good, Don't worry about finding canned tongue. Go to a meat market, butcher, etc. and get a fresh one. Depending on size boil for a couple of hours, remove tough outer membrane and continue with the reciepe.
