Ingredients
  • 4 tbs oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1 large or 2 smaller tomatoes (1/2 lb), peeled and minced
  • 1 cup dried lentils, picked over, washed and drained
  • 3/4-1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbs lemon juice

Directions
  1. Heat oil in heavy pot over medium flame. When hot, put in the garlic. Stir and fry til garlic browns lightly.
  2. Put in the tomatoes. Stir and cook about 5 minutes or til tomatoes turn into a paste.
  3. Put in the lentils and 2 1/2 cups water. Bring to a boil. Cover, lower heat and simmer gently for 1/2 hour.
  4. Add salt and lemon juice. Stir to mix.
