How to make it

  • Brown ground beef in skillet, drain and move back to heat.
  • Stir in basil and cook on low heat for 5-10 minutes.
  • Put beef in 5 1/2 qt. slow cooker and add all other wet ingredients and mix well.
  • Add seasonings to taste remembering that flavors will become stronger as it cooks.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Cover bottom of soup bowl with corn chips, layer in chili and top with shredded cheese.
  • Serve immediately after layering.
