Southern Cornbread Dressing Recipe
This is my own recipe for cornbread dressing. I serve it every year on Thanksgiving and Christmas. So far, I've had no complaints! :-) Cook cornbread and boil eggs ahead of time.

Ingredients
  • 3 pans cornbread
  • 8 slices white bread, toasted
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 6 eggs, hard boiled
  • 12 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 10 cups turkey or chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 sticks margarine
  • 2 Tbsp crumbled sage leaves

Directions
  1. Crumble cornbread and toasted bread in a large bowl
  2. Add onion, chopped boiled egg and boiled broth to mixture
  3. Add crumbled sage leaves, raw eggs and melted margarine
  4. Blend well
  5. Pour into a buttered baking dish and bake at 425 derees for 30-45 minutes, depending on oven

YEP!! That's the way I do it, too, almost exactly! The eggs really add something to it for sure. I add poultry seasoning and some rosemary to it most times. Whatever's around, I say! Thanks for this...

I change it up, depending on my mood! LOL The kids never know what they're getting!


If you have good cornbread, the dressing has got to be great! I also add a can of cream of chicken soup to my dressing....Thanks for posting! Jett
