Ingredients

How to make it

  • Dissolve yeast in hot water
  • Mix the flour, salt and olive in large bowl
  • Add yeast/water mixture and stir together
  • Dump out on floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic
  • Let rise until doubled in size (approximately 1 hour)
  • Punch down dough, knead slightly and form into loaf (you can use a loaf pan or roll it into a long loaf as in french)
  • Bake at 375 for 35 minutes
  • For roasted garlic and rosemary variation, put minced garlic and rosemary in olive and bake at 200 for about 30 minutes while bread rises. Add this during the second kneading.

I just took it out of the oven. I baked it as a round loaf. It smells great and my little sample piece was delicious!

Our local market has a Tuscan Garlic Olive Oil loaf that is delicious but has become very pricey. I've been looking for a recipe that sounded like that bread and this may be it! I will bake this this afternoon. Thanks.

This bread was So delish! I rolled it flat then rolled it up french bread style, made slits and let it rise another 20 min before baking. I also coated it with egg white about half way through baking just for asthetic purposes. It was so moist and soft. Perfect for dipping.

Made this tonight. Rolled it flat then rolled it up like french bread. Let it rise for about 10 min after adding the garlic/rosemary, kneading, and shaping. Really nice moist bread perfect for dipping in EVOO and Balsamic. Delish!
