Cheese Scones Recipe
Cheese scones that are easy to make and will go with many meals or by itself.

Ingredients
  • 1½ oz. plus 1 tsp. of butter
  • 2 cup of flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¾ cup Cheddar cheese (grated)
  • ⅝ cup of milk

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and cayenne into a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the butter, cut into small pieces.
  4. Blend butter into flour mixture with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse bread crumbs.
  5. With a table knife, stir in the cheese and milk to form a soft dough.
  6. Form the dough into balls by hand.
  7. Cut the dough in to 8 pieces and form each piece into a ½ inch thick circle.
  8. Place the circles of dough, spaced well apart on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until they have risen and are golden brown.
  10. Serve immediately.
