How to make it

  • Preheat oven 375
  • Brown sausage, slowly drain fat.
  • Add garlic, tomatoes, basil, oregano, 1/2 tsp of salt and tomato paste
  • Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes
  • Add a little bit of water if it is too thick and use the size of tomato paste can to measure, that should be enough.
  • Cook noodles in boiling salted and oiled water. Let them sit, do not drain.
  • In bowl combine, ricotta cheese, Parmesan, parsley, eggs, 1 tsp of salt and black pepper.
  • Mix well until it looks very creamy. If you have a stand mixer use it for mixing as it works perfect. If you have a hand mixer use it.
  • Next, layer noodles in bottom of 13 x 9 x 2 dish
  • Cover with meat, then ricotta mixture then mozzarella then meat again.
  • Continue until all layers are completed.
  • Finish with meat sauce then put a final layer of mozzarella on top of it.
  • Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes.
  • Allow the dish to sit for five minutes before serving as the layers are very hot and need to cool down. Enjoy!

    I've made this with my Garlic Bread and my husband and I took them to a friend's for a simple dinner party. It was a total success! The great thing, there was plenty left over the next day so they only needed a quick warm up in the microwave or perhaps put them both in the oven for a few minutes since the bread would be needing to be warmed up too. Enjoy!
